YES! There is a new function launched by Instagram in 2018 called “Instagram Shopping”. It benefits both the seller and buyers. Different products in different brand can be found in the “explore”. The product image are with “Instagram’s Shopping Tags”, which enable brands to add up to five price and description tags to specific items in any Instagram image, which, which consumers can then tap on the product to find out more information and take them to your website and make a purchase. 

As the main function of Instagram is interpersonal communication, the social platform need to have a way for shops to invest on this platform while it doesn’t make it too commercial for the user of the apps to stop using it. And the tagging of products are the best strategic way to communicate with users while keeping the platforms “purity” for them; as the tagging is already an existing function which lessen the discomfort of new function for users, it also makes it more convenient for users to see information for the product through official website, instead of waiting the shop owner to reply your DM (direct messages).
